Blue Ice Cheerleaders
The Blue Ice Cheerleaders are an inclusive, community, amateur, sports club. We believe that Cheerleading is more than just a sport. It is a family which teaches more important things then just tumbling and stunting. It teaches the children teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, resilience, winning, losing, and gives them life lessons and experiences.
Open to all abilities
We believe that every child should get to experience all that Cheerleading offers, therefore we do not audition, try out, or pick children to be in our squad. All children are welcome and have the same experiences. We try to accommodate all needs and abilities to the best of our ability, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone at the same time.
Our Story
The Blue Ice Cheerleaders was first started up by my mum in 2000, training in the small village of Misson. It was hugely popular and ran until 2014. I became a cheerleader in my mum’s team until it folded, where I went on to join dance instead.
I have since built a career in sport and dance, building my qualifications to support this. During covid my work circumstances changed, and I decided to bring back my mum’s squad, The Blue Ice Cheerleaders. From posting 1 advert on Facebook, I took on over 100 children. I secured a training space in the Elms Hotel Function Room and began running 6 classes. We fundraised to get safety mats, a shed outside to store the mats, and uniform.
We have now been to 4 successful competitions, took part in multiple displays and many fundraisers! We have just made the big step into our very own premises The Blue Ice Cheer Gym, located in Hallcroft, Retford. This will open up so many opportunities for our team to grow, develop and progress!
